Horizon Zero Dawn (Английская версия)

Prologue

A cold winter came to those lands... and only a lonely hut stood somewhere at the top of one of the mountains. Its door slowly opened and a man stepped out.

He looked up at the snow-covered mountains in the distance, then looked up into the sky where the snow was falling in flakes.

In his arms lay a little red-haired girl who had no name. Being outcasts in those lands, they don't give names to children.

— Rast: What is it? Are you cold?

— Rust: You'll have to be patient. You and I have something important to do today.

He knelt down, put aside the spear he held in his other hand, and gently placed the baby in a sort of portable crib.

She held out her hand to him, and he, after thinking for a few seconds, put a locket around her neck.

— Rust: Here. It's for you.

— Rast: It's my daughter's...

The girl laughed and took the locket in her hands.

Rast got up, took the crib and put it on her shoulder so the girl could see what was going on. Picked up his spear and walked down the porch.

— Rust: Today I'm going to call your name.

— Rast: But... will the Goddess repeat it?

And he set off on his journey. He passed through thick, snow-covered forests...

— Rust: Usually the child's name is called by the mother. When he has one.

Through the green meadows before the snow covers them...

— Rast: The whole village comes, and the matriarchs lead the ceremony. But we are outcasts.

— Rast: And yet we will live by the rules. So that we don't become godless like the Forerunners who denied the Goddess.

He walked through the ancient structures that the Forerunners built, destroyed by time and nature.

Through rusty lifeless machines. Robots.

— Rast: That's what led to their demise.

— Rast: And we are left with the wonders of creation.

— Rast: Beasts of the sky, water, earth and... Steel.

He lurched carefully in the bushes, waiting for the giant robots that stunned the imagination to pass. Some looked like giraffes, some like elk, and some like wolves.

— Rust: It's one thing to have a beast of meat, but it's another thing to have a machine. A hunter must respect their strength. I'll teach you everything.

— Rust: One day.

He rose and continued on the path that led him over steep hills and high mountains, all for the girl, all to give her a name that might help her in the future.

And by sunset, the path had brought him to the matriarchal mountain.

He saw a woman standing on the edge of the sacred mountain, looking out to the horizon.

— Rast: The High Matriarch of Thyrsa? Why has she come?

— Rast: To forbid me to perform the ritual?

She beckoned him with a gesture, and he took the girl in his arms and knelt beside her.

— Tiersa: No, no, no, get off your knees! It's time.

— Tiersa: Don't be silent. You can talk to me.

— Rast: Have you come to give her a name?

— Tyrsa: Isn't it exactly six months since that day?

— Rust: But we're outcasts.

— Tyrsa: You are of your own free will, and she's... Well...

She dipped her fingers into the blue paint and drew a line across the girl's forehead.

— Tiersa: I am the Supreme Matriarch of Tiersa. Bless whomever I wish.

— Rast: A great honor.

— Tirsa: Yes, yes. Go on! Is the name ready? Go on!

She stepped back, and Rast went up the slope of the mountain that washed over the two waterfalls. On the slope where the sun rose and on the slope that was holy to all.

Tiersa cried out:

— Tiersa: Great Mother, this child needs her own name, that your love may warm her as the rising sun warms the earth!

And the sun appeared from behind the horizon, illuminating the slope with its light.

— Tiersa: Give me your name!

Rast lifted her above the slope and shouted:

— Rast: ELOY!!!

And Eloi, reached out to the warm sun smiling.

— Tiersa: And the child found her name.

— Lanzra: Stop it now!

Everyone looked back, and the second matriarch Lanzra came out, surrounded by two guards.

She approached Tirsa.

— Lanzra: What did you do?

And Tiersa only answered calmly:

— Tiersa: Blessed the naming of the child.

— Lanzra: Stubborn girl! You call this a child?

— Lanzra: Walked up to Rast and tapped her spear and shouted:

— Lanzra: What did she tell you about it, rogue? Answer me!

Rast got down on his knees and without looking at the matriarch answered:

— Rast: I only did what you asked me to do.

— Lanzra: You asked me to raise you. But not asked to love!

Tiersa interrupted her.

— Tirsa: That's enough.

— Lanzra: And you... bless her name! As if she were one of us!

But for Rasta, these arguments were behind him. He did what he had always dreamed of doing.

— Rast: I must serve them - and you.

— Rast: I'm here for you, and I'll follow you... wherever you want.
